Employees planning to work remotely from outside the United States must follow University policy and be aware of potential technology limitations that may impact access to systems and services.
Policy Requirement:
Any request to work internationally requires advance written approval in accordance with the University’s Temporary International Remote Work Policy.
For full details, please review the Human Resources policy here:
Temporary International Remote Work Policy
Technology Considerations:
Working from outside the U.S. may impact your ability to access University systems.
- Certain countries restrict or block VPN and Global Secure Access services.
- Access to internal resources (email, file shares, team chat, various applications) may be limited or unavailable.
- Network performance and security controls may vary by region.
University Equipment Guidance:
In some cases, the IT department may require or provide a loaner laptop for international travel.
- Loaner devices are configured to meet security and compliance requirements.
- Devices must be returned promptly upon your return to the United States.
Recommendations:
- Submit requests for international remote work well in advance.
- Coordinate with your manager, HR, and IT before traveling.
- Do not assume full system access will be available from all locations.
