Overview: This job aid guides you through how to setup your Five9 softphone within the SalesForce application


Important: You must install a chrome extension and the softphone update before you can use the phone. After the first installation you need to close the browser and reopen it before performing the second installation.

Chrome is recommended for use with SaleForce and the Five9 softphone


The first step is to log into the SalesForce application using your university username and password. The Five9 softphone will be used from within the SalesForce application. Once you have logged in proceed to the steps below for the extension and softphone update installation.

Extension & Softphone Installation

1. Once you have logged into SalesForce you will see the word phone in the bottom left of the screen. Click on phone link to launch the softphone application.

2. The application will do a quick check and will find that you need additional components to use the softphone

3. Click on the blue “Install Browser Extension” bar.

4. Your browser will open a new screen. You need to click the “Add to Chrome” button to install the extension.

5. Once the Chrome extension has installed you will need to close the browser and relaunch the SalesForce application. Log into to SalesForce and once again click the phone button at the bottem left sidt of the screen.

6. You should now see that the extension installation is completed

7. Next, click on the blue “Download and Install Softphone” bar.

8. Once the softphone has been installed you will see completed on both installations

9. Click Next to finish the setup

10. Now that the softphone has been installed you will see the link at the bottom now say Engage instead of phone. Click Engage to begin using the Five9 softphone.
